Today was Tuesday the 27th of November and we started the day by meeting up with Christine Bertsch from the Rape Crisis Centre in George.
Christine was kind enough to take us around George and from here we visited Victim Support Rooms at police stations in George, Conville and Thembalethu. At the support rooms we met with the people in charge of receiving rape victims and we distributed leaflets and information about Rape Crisis. Read the rest of this entry »
SABC TV 1 & 2 will be screening 16 films during the 16 Days of Activism illustrating the stories of South Africans who have suffered various forms of abuse including rape. Today was a day of achievement and we began the campaign with a workshop in Oudtshoorn. The facilitators for the day were Nthuthu and Bajija. Today was the day for our campaign Stop The Bus to take off. We met early morning at the Rape Crisis office in Observatory and from there we started to pack our bus. Further more a journalist from The Guardian newspaper in London came to take our picture. Read the rest of this entry »
Our Stop the Bus campaign will take off on Sunday the 25th of November. We are all looking forward to going on this bus trip. The preparation has been happening for a while - we have had meetings every Tuesday for the last couple of months, where our very experienced team has planned both weeks of the tour. It has been an interesting process to be a part of. In our meetings we have discussed the destinations of the two trips, which role each person will have on the bus and during the workshops and other activities.
