We started the day with a nice breakfast and in the diningroom we met a woman who works for Rape Crisis in the Free State. We had a little chat with her and Ma Joyce told her about Stop the Bus.
We gave her some pamphlets, she was very happy to get the material because she doesn´t have these pamphlets at the Rape Crisis she works at.
The workshop in Laingsburg started at 11 o´clock and Joyce, Jemina and Johanna were the facilitators. Maxi, Michelle and Flo made sure everybody was registered. The workshop was for stakeholders from the SAPS, NGO´s in the area and interested community members.
There was very nice teamwork since the workshop was in Afrikaans and all the team members were very helpful during the workshop. They assisted if one had problems with the English, either in reading or writing.

The problems the town had were discussed, among them alcohol abuse, domestic violence and teenage pregnancy. We made good contacts for future workshops when we next visit the region and found out more about topics of interest for this community.

We were done with the workshop around 3 o’clock and we went for a quick lunch and then we continued to Uitvlugt Guest House in Worcester, where we were going to sleep for the last two nights of the trip. During the drive there we had our debriefing.

Uitlvugt is a very beautiful place, the view was fantastic and the guest house is surrounded by olive and grape trees. The team really enjoyed it after a long day of hard work.

At 7.30 we had a wonderful dinner and then went on to our rooms to wind down, read, chat and go to bed in order to be fresh for the next day’s challenges…
